It's coming to a new month, which means there are new cookbooks to get excited about! This month, I'm particularly excited about two books: Africana, a much needed cookbook from the African continent, and Motherland, a collection of Jamaican recipes from food writer Melissa Thompson. Keep reading to learn more about these two books and why I think they'll be perfect for your kitchen!
Africana: A much needed cookbook from the continent. Covering Madagascar to Nigeria with over 100 recipes. I was so excited to hear about this book! There are so few cookbooks that focus on African cuisine, and I think this book will be a great addition to any kitchen. The book covers recipes from all over the continent, so you're sure to find something that you'll love. Whether you're looking for an easy weeknight meal or something more special for a dinner party, Africana has you covered.
I’ve tried making Lerato’s Chicken Yassa recipe, West African comfort food that has chicken cooked with caramelised onions, garlic, mustard and hot peppers. With marinating and lots of braising this fall apart meat is so comforting in its sweet yet tangy sauce. Is this is the first recipe from this lady then I have high hopes for this cookbook!
Motherland: A collection of recipes from the inspiring food writer and presenter Melissa Thompson.
I've been following Melissa Thompson on Instagram for a while now, and I was thrilled to hear that she was releasing a cookbook! Her recipes are always so creative and beautiful, and I just want to eat them right off her Instagram page, I can't wait to try them out in my own kitchen. If you're looking for some new ideas for your next dinner party or just want to try something different, definitely check out Motherland.
Here a few of here recipes to look out for;
Oxtail nuggets with pepper sauce mayo
Ginger beer prawns
Smoky aubergine rundown
Sticky rum and tamarind wings
Grapefruit cassava cake
Guinness punch pie.
I hope you enjoyed learning about these two new cookbooks! I'm so excited to add them to my collection and I think you will be too. If you're looking for some new inspiration in the kitchen, be sure to check out Africana and Motherland. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
