March is the start of spring in the UK and with it comes a bounty of seasonal fruits and vegetables. From crisp apples to sweet strawberries, March marks the beginning of a delicious season full of fresh produce. Here are some popular options:

1. Apples: Apples are a great source of vitamins and minerals, so you’ll be sure to get your daily dose in March. Apples are crisp and sweet, perfect for eating fresh or baking into a tart. I love making surplus apples into a crumble or a pie which is still ultra comfoting when we peak into Spring as well as Winter.

2.Mushrooms : Wild mushrooms are abundant in the UK during March. From field mushrooms to chanterelles, there’s plenty of different varieties to choose from. They’re great for adding a savoury flavour to dishes, or just sautéing with butter and herbs. I've grown to enjoy then with my morning brunch or lunch. Sauteed with some thyme and chilli packs a punch!

3. Rhubarb : I spotted the first rhubarb in my local grocers yesterday and I kind of shriked in excitement. This tart and tangy vegetable is perfect for making pies, crumbles and jams. Forced rhubarb season starts in February and lasts until April, so you’ll have plenty of time to get your hands on some. I rememeber trying a rhubarb and vanilla jam which was divine.

4. Asparagus : Asparagus is one of the many vegetables that will come into season during March. It’s always a bit of a treat when it pops up in supermarkets, as it’s usually only available for a limited time each year. Try steaming or grilling and serving with garlic butter for an easy side dish. I pop them on the griddle pan with a little olive oil and have wutg sime delicious poached eggs.
